Atmospheric Research
Our atmospheric research programs investigate and quantify cloud parameters to enhance our understanding of meteorological conditions and optimize cloud seeding strategies. Through meticulous data analysis we can understand cloud formation and behavior to guide targeted interventions.
Environmental Research and Assessment
We will simulate the effects of cloud seeding application to evaluate the potential benefits and risks. Not only do we examine the impact of the proposed introduction of seeding agents like silver iodide (AgI) and other substances like salts that can be found in seeding materials; we also evaluate the total environmental impact so that the risk and advantages can be clearly assessed.
Computer Modelling
We leverage dispersion modeling techniques for cloud seeding applications to enhance our understanding of the impact of cloud seeding activities. Our modeling approach allows us to predict and analyze the effects of cloud seeding on precipitation, enabling us to optimize seeding strategies for maximum effectiveness.
Laboratory Investigations
With experience in the lab, our scientists can design and conduct investigations of cloud seeding material in cloud chambers and facilitate the use of the KIT or ETH Laboratory Cloud Chamber. These studies give detailed information about particle size and quantity, and can be used to optimize seeding materials for glaciogenic or hygroscopic application.
